The Majority Leader of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Sherif Abiodun Yusuf (Ibeman), has emerged as the new Chairman of the Forum of Majority Leaders in the
South West. His emergence was announced during the 3rd Quarterly Meeting of the Southwest Legislative Reform Implementation Committee (SLRIC) held in Abeokuta, Ogun State, on Friday, August 3rd, 2025.
The Forum, which serves as the Legislative Reform Implementation Committee for the South West region, comprises Majority Leaders from the State Houses of Assembly of Lagos, Ogun, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, and Oyo States. Its objective is to strengthen legislative collaboration and advance policy reforms that promote good governance and sustainable development within the region.
Declaring the meeting open, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Daisi Elemide, commended the forum for its commitment to legislative development and regional integration. He was joined by the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Bolanle Ajayi, and other members of the Ogun State House of Assembly.
In his acceptance remarks, Hon. Sherif Abiodun Yusuf expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him by his colleagues, pledging to consolidate on the achievements of his predecessor, Hon. Emmanuel Ogunmolasuyi, the Majority Leader of the Ondo State House of Assembly. He emphasized the need for greater synergy among South West legislatures to drive impactful reforms that reflect the aspirations of the people.
The new Chairman assured that under his leadership, the Forum will continue to pursue policies that strengthen legislative institutions, enhance regional cooperation, and promote people-oriented governance across the South West.
