The Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Osun State Command, Commander Olayinka Joe-Fadile, today, 05/08/26, received representatives of the Anglican Compassion and Development Initiative (ACADI), a non-governmental organization of the Anglican Communion dedicated to addressing issues of Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Speaking during the courtesy visit, the Team Leader of ACADI, Venerable Oso, commended the Osun State Command for its longstanding collaboration with the organization, particularly during the annual Synod of the Diocese of Osun. He expressed appreciation for the Command's support over the years and appealed for sustained synergy in advancing the initiative.
He also requested that the Command designate a focal person to facilitate effective coordination and implementation of activities under the project.
In his response, Commander Olayinka Joe-Fadile appreciated the delegation for the visit and conveyed his gratitude to the Lord Bishop of the Diocese of Osun for considering the NDLEA a valuable partner in the initiative.
The Commander described gender-based violence as an abuse of power and privilege that can affect both men and women, noting that substance abuse is often a contributing factor to violent and abusive behaviour. He emphasized the need for collective efforts in tackling both drug abuse and gender-based violence within communities.
Commander Joe-Fadile reaffirmed the commitment of the NDLEA Osun State Command to supporting initiatives that promote the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) and pledged the Command's continued collaboration with ACADI and other stakeholders in fostering a safer, healthier, and drug-free Osun State.
